Commercial glazing installers in London

Each package runs from technical review of the drawings through fabrication to sequenced delivery, installation and handover. That suits central London sites, where deliveries have to fit tight loading windows and the façade has to meet both planning conditions and the fire strategy. On buildings of 18 metres or seven storeys and above with two or more homes, the Building Safety Regulator is the building control authority, so façade information has to be settled before work can start on site. Closer to the factory, the offices and business parks of Hillingdon — Stockley Park, Hayes, Uxbridge and the Heathrow perimeter — are a short drive away. Glazing in London: what shapes the project
London’s housing is dominated by Victorian and Edwardian terraces in the inner boroughs and 1930s semi-detached houses further out. In a terrace, the typical project is a rear or side-return extension opened up with bifold or sliding doors and a roof lantern over the kitchen. In outer boroughs such as Hillingdon, Ealing, Harrow and Hounslow, it is more often a full-width rear extension on a semi.
Planning shapes the specification. London has around a thousand conservation areas, and many boroughs use Article 4 directions to remove permitted development rights, so frame colour, sightlines and glazing facing the street can need consent. Flats and maisonettes have no householder permitted development rights at all, and most terrace extensions involve the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.
Close to Heathrow, homes under the flight paths in Hillingdon and Hounslow benefit from acoustic laminated glass, which is worth raising at survey.

Aluminium bifold doors
The standard answer for a side-return or rear extension on a terrace: three to five panels across the back, folding to one side so the kitchen opens to the garden.
Slim sliding doors
Where the garden is the view rather than the route, large sliding panels with slim interlocks keep more glass and less frame than a bifold.
Roof lanterns
A side-return extension is often dark in the middle of the plan. A lantern over the kitchen brings daylight in where a terrace has no side windows.

- No. Survey and quotation are free across Greater London. We measure the opening, agree the finished floor level and check access before anything is ordered, because a made-to-measure door has to be right first time.
- Which door systems can I see before ordering?
- Our West Drayton showroom has working doors and windows installed, so you can operate them before deciding. It is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and is a short trip from most of London.
- Do I need planning permission for bifold doors in London?
- Often not, if you are replacing an existing opening on a house. You will usually need consent if the house is listed, if it sits in a conservation area covered by an Article 4 direction, or if the property is a flat or maisonette, which has no householder permitted development rights. Your borough publishes its conservation areas and Article 4 directions, and we can provide system specifications to support an application.
- Does fitting bifold doors in a London terrace need a party wall agreement?
- Replacing doors in an existing opening does not usually involve the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. The extension around them often does: building on or into the shared wall, or digging foundations close to a neighbour’s, means serving notice on the neighbour before work starts. Your builder or a party wall surveyor will confirm what applies.
