Aluminium Roof Lanterns

About Aluminium Roof Lanterns

Our aluminium roof lanterns bring daylight down into flat-roof extensions, kitchens and rooms set back from the windows, with a view of the sky from below. The roof profile is slim and the sightlines are kept low, so even a large lantern does not dominate the house from the garden or the street. The aluminium frames are thermally efficient and powder coated outside in a wide range of colours, and each lantern is made to the size of the roof opening. We supply and install roof lanterns across London and the South East, usually alongside the bifold or sliding doors on the same extension.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Aluminium Roof Lanterns.

What is a roof lantern?

A glazed structure that rises above a flat roof in a slim pitched frame, bringing daylight into the room below and giving a view of the sky. It is a popular choice for kitchen-diner extensions and rooms set back from the garden.

Roof lantern or flat rooflight?

A lantern gives height and a view of the sky and suits the middle of a large flat roof. A flat rooflight sits almost level with the roof and is glazed edge to edge, so it suits roofs where a lantern would be too tall or too visible.

What size can a roof lantern be?

Each lantern is made to the size of the roof opening, and the low sightlines mean even a large lantern does not dominate the house from the garden or the street.

Does a roof lantern need Building Regulations approval?

Yes. Roof glazing must meet Building Regulations for thermal performance and safety glazing, and the structural opening has to be designed correctly. We confirm those requirements for each project.

Can you fit the lantern and the doors together?

Yes. We usually install roof lanterns alongside the bifold or sliding doors on the same extension, across London and the South East. Quotes are free on 0800 999 5575 or through the contact form.
