About Schüco AWS 70.HI Tilt and Turn Windows
A tilt and turn window is an inward-opening window that opens in two ways from one handle, and we make aluminium tilt and turn windows to measure and fit them in homes, flats and offices across London and the South East.
Turn the handle to the first position and the sash tilts in at the top, leaving a secure gap for ventilation that rain is unlikely to get through. It can stay like that overnight to air the room. Turn the handle further and the whole sash swings into the room like a door, so both faces of the glass can be cleaned from inside. Nobody needs a ladder or an outside cleaning contract for an upper-floor window, which is why tilt and turn is a popular choice in flats and on upper floors.
Because the sash opens into the room, nothing projects over a balcony, walkway or pavement outside. The trade-off is space inside: when the sash is turned fully open it needs clear room in front of it, so deep sills, blinds and furniture under the window are planned around the swing.
Our tilt and turn windows are built on the Schüco AWS 70.HI system, which carries sashes up to 160kg, takes glazing units up to 52mm including triple glazing, and can be made to security class RC3. Every window is finished in any RAL colour or anodised to match the doors around it.
