The Schüco AWS 70.HI is a highly thermally insulated aluminium window system with a 70mm basic depth, and we make it to measure and install it on houses, apartments and commercial buildings across London and the South East. It suits projects that need one window platform that can handle punched openings, long ribbon windows and level-access window doors across the same elevation.
The .HI in the name stands for high insulation. Insulating zones in the profile give a frame U-value (Uf) from 1.6 W/m²K, and the frame takes glazing units up to 52mm thick, which leaves room for triple glazing where the energy target calls for it. The whole-window U-value depends on the glass and the window size, so we confirm it with the quote; in England, replacement windows in existing homes have to meet the Part L limit for windows.
On commercial buildings the AWS 70.HI is used for ribbon (strip) windows running along a floor, and for punched openings in office and mixed-use façades, with a choice of contour styles to suit the building. On homes it suits casement-style punched openings and full-height window doors with level access. Sashes can be inward or outward opening, bottom-hung, top-hung or fixed, carry up to 160kg, and can be built to burglar resistance class RC3 (WK3). Motorised opening is available, including remote control and night-time cooling for offices. Finishes cover the full RAL palette and anodised options.
